MyFest 2015 has been announced by the tourism ministry during the launching of Visit Malaysia Year 2014 as this festive year will continue after the VMY2014. Malaysia Year of Festivals or MyFest 2015 will showcase the countries unique multi-cultural festivals that are celebrated by the many ethnic races found all around Malaysia.
Not only general festivals are showcased but anything that is in the form of a festival will be part of the Year of Festivals 2015 around Malaysia. There will be a roadshow going on for awareness locally and also internationally where MyFest 2015 will hopefully encourage the visitors to stay longer in Malaysia. As this is also a national mission, MyFest 2015 has a theme called “Endless Celebrations”.
The MyFest 2015 Roadshow will start on the 21st October and end on the 16th December 2014. This roadshow will travel from state to state around Malaysia for awareness.
Malaysia has a population of 29.7 million people which are spread throughout Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia of Sabah and Sarawak Borneo. There are a total of 13 states and 3 federal territories where each state houses multiple cultures and festivals. Malaysia is also one of the few countries in the world that has many different public holidays for each of the ethnic races making it a desirable place to visit.
MyFest 2015 RationaleOfficially on the 21st of October 2014, the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia announced that the year 2015 will be known as the Malaysia Year Of Festivals (MyFest) 2015. The MyFest 2015 campaign will continue to boost the tourism sector and ensure that the Malaysian tourism industry remains robust after the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 campaign. As Malaysia is blessed with various cultures, the new campaign seeks to showcase and celebrate Malaysia’s bountiful, diverse cultures and various festivities.
The MyFest 2015 campaign also seeks to maintain Malaysia as the top-of-the-mind tourist destination with a target of receiving 29.4 million tourist arrivals and RM89 billion tourist receipts. The campaign will complement the Malaysia Tourism Transformation Plan (MTTP:2020:36:168) where the country has set a target of 36 million tourist arrivals with RM168 billion tourist receipts in the year 2020.

MyFest 2015 Logo RationaleThe design for Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 logo depicts a traditional musical instrument known as the Rebana Ubi. The drum is a musical instrument which can be associated with Malaysia’s multicultural society, in line with the spirit of 1Malaysia. Therefore, the logo design reflects an important part of the country’s heritage, traditions and culture.

The official Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 logo was also recently announced by the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia and this official logo will be used on all printed materials for 2015. MyFest 2015’s logo was also officially launched in the state of Kelantan on 18th September 2014 by YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri bin Abdul Aziz, the Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia.
